A new future beckons

I have just been appointed Rector of Buckingham. I am filled with excitement and awe for the God who has brought me to this place. "He who calls you is faithful." (1 Thess 5:24). I can scarcely believe how faithful God is; we have all prayed so hard and this job is just perfect for me: a big challenge but it will play to my strengths. The people are wonderful and there is so much good already going on. God will (I'm sure) use my energy and passion to encourage and motivate people to do even better as they strive to build the Kingdom in Buckingham. Watch this space!

Worshipping like David did

Just preached on 2 Samuel 6. I love the picture of this great King David dancing like a crazy man - letting it all hang out - so much so that his wife things he is appalling. She just doesn't get it. She doesn't understand that David is dancing not for all the assembled people but for an audience of One. God. May I worship Him in such an abandoned manner and not care what others think!

What an amazing invention! I just had a look at my childhood home as if I were standing in the street where I have not ventured for some 19 years. I was born there. My father died there. I nearly blew the house up with some army explosives I 'borrowed' and I met my late wife at a party there (she gatecrashed). What a great way to meander down memory lane. But I wonder how many will find this too painful to have a go at? I once tried regression therapy and imagined myself entering that house holding onto the hand of Jesus. That was an amazing experience but it left me drained but knowing that even then he had been with me.
